Starting Out

Electronic Application

  • Name the application PDF (Adobe LifeCycle form) using the following format:
    ApplicationID_Applicant’s Surname.pdf
    e.g.  921340_Smith.pdf

  • All other files are to be converted into a single PDF. These are:
    - academic transcript and key to institutional grading system
    - Section 6 (Research, Partnership Award if applicable)
    - Name this PDF using the following format:
    ApplicationID_Applicant’s Surname_Attachments.pdf
    e.g. 921340_Smith_Attachments.pdf

  • When your application is complete, email it to the Alfred & Baker IDI Research Office.

Hard Copy Application

  • Provide the Alfred & Baker IDI Research Office with 1 hard copy of the signature pages. Make sure signatures of the applicant, proposed supervisor and head of intended division are provided. Fill in the details of the Head of Administering Institution, and the Alfred & Baker IDI Research Office can arrange for him to sign the application.

  • If final ethics / safety clearances have been approved, you must provide a hard copy of the certificate for Alfred & Baker IDI Research Office records:
    - human ethics approval
    - animal ethics approval
    - genetic manipulation approval
    - carcinogenic or highly toxic chemical usage approval

  • If applicable, provide a hard copy of medical or allied health professional registration.

  • Applicants whose most recent degree was attained overseas should consult the National Office of Overseas Recognition (NOOSR) Country Education Profile to determine the Australian equivalent of their qualifications. A letter from their administering institution confirming the equivalent qualification must be attached with Section 6.

Referee Reports

  • The applicant is responsible for providing a full copy of the completed application and the referee report form to:
    - the supervisor
    - the independent referee

  • The supervisor and independent referee must submit their reports electronically by
    1 August 2009 to: NHMRC.Referee.CARSS@nhmrc.gov.au

  • The supervisor must also email a two page summary CV as a PDF along with their referee report.
