Purpose
- To undertake research in the field of
Surgery
- To encourage individuals who have not been
previously involved in major surgical research activities
- To fund a study that is complete in itself
and not merely part of a major study
Eligibility
Any
medical graduate wishing to train as a surgeon or any surgical trainee
shall be eligible to apply for this award. The research must take place
within The Alfred hospital / Monash University Department of Surgery under the direction of an experienced researcher.
Amount
and tenure
Up to
$7,000
(not intended for living expenses). Funding is for
one year from January 2012.
Guidelines
Applicants should avoid
submitting projects that are:

purely of a quality
control nature
-
determination of
normative data only without a research question
-
development work
without a research component, eg. new assay
-
evaluation of new or
proposed equipment
-
accumulation or acquisition of
descriptive data without an outcome
