The objective of Alfred Clinical Trial Pharmacy Service is to provide quality, efficient and cost-effective investigational drug services.

Major services include:

  • drug accountability
  • dispensing
  • aseptic preparation
  • storage of investigational medicines
  • preparation of randomisation codes
  • manufacturing of blinded medications

Clinical Trials Pharmacy service is managed by staff with ARCP GCP training. It is staffed with experienced/trained pharmacists to ensure the studies are conducted according to international standards of good clinical research practice. Its facilities include secure, temperature controlled storage conditions, computerised dispensing and a sterile preparation suite. It currently supports over 200 clinical drug trials and is located on the lower ground floor.

Opening hours

Opening hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:15pm. After-hours and on-call service is available.

Fee for service

The service is being provided on a fee for service basis. The aim of pharmacy charges is to provide pharmacy support for clinical trials without incurring extra cost to the hospital.
