Research Governance Toolkit Training 2011
Stage 2 Seminar Series
Introduction
The Research Governance Toolkit has been developed to help
clinical research organisations ensure that their research is underpinned by best practice
research governance, which includes, amongst a wide range of elements, ethical review and approval.
The toolkit project was and continues to be supported and coordinated by Victorian Managed
Insurance Authority (VMIA), insurer of all public hospitals in Victoria.
The Toolkit Part 1 is a comprehensive
handbook
which has templates for policies and procedures and checklists for research.
Much of the toolkit is designed to help research and ethics offices at research institutions
develop their own policies and templates for managing and monitoring their research.
Many of the public hospital agreements and procedures are based on templates in the
toolkit.
The greatest challenge of the toolkit was to ensure it
had real and living application and benefit across institutions and for all people involved
in the research endeavour, especially the researchers themselves. This is where Research
Governance Toolkit Part 2 (RGT2) comes in. RGT2 is an educational Seminar Series which will
be delivered across Victorian public hospitals throughout 2011
FOR FREE. These seminars will
presented by leading experts in their field and your local Research &
Ethics Office representative.
Each seminar is two hours long, with the
first hour comprising an overview of the topic and the second hour
containing more detailed information. Participants have the option of
attending one or both of the hours. You can test your knowledge on
completion of each module and receive a certificate for CPD purposes.

Research and Education
