Alfred Research Trusts funding

The Alfred Research Trusts are a valuable source of funding for Alfred staff. The Trusts have been built up over many years from donations and bequests, some directed to specific areas of research, and some for general research. The specific areas of research include radiotherapy and cancer, neurology, bone marrow transplantation, respiratory disease and cardiovascular disease.

In accordance with The Alfred's strategic plan for research, the AMREP Council has allocated approximately $1 million from The Alfred Research Trusts to priority areas for 2007.

The remainder of the funds provide for Small Project Grants (for inexperienced researchers), Postgraduate Research Scholarships, the biostatistician, whose services are provided by the Monash University Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine, and for special research initiatives.
